XXXIX World Youth Day

Pope Francis’ Message on “Those who hope in the Lord will run and not be weary” (cf. Is 40,31)

Pope Francis’ Message for the XXXIX World Youth Day has been published on the theme: «Those who hope in the Lord will run and not be weary» (cf. Is 40,31).

The document is available in various languages on the Holy See’s website and on our Dicastery of Laity Family and Life’s website.

This edition of the World Youth Day will be celebrated locally on November 24, 2024, the Solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe.

The final document of the XV Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on “Young People, The Faith, and Vocational Discernment” states that national and diocesan youth gatherings «they offer the possibility of journeying together as if on pilgrimage, of experiencing fraternity with all, of sharing the faith joyfully and growing closer to the Church. For many young people these moments have been an experience of transformation, in which they have experienced the beauty of the Lord’s face and have made important life choices. The best fruits of these experiences are gathered in daily life. It therefore becomes important to plan and to experience these gatherings as significant stages of a broader virtuous process» (FD, 142).

For a more in-depth guide, please refer to the Pastoral Guidelines for the Celebration of World Youth Day in the Particular Churches.

We invite you to share the Message in military dioceses and eparchies, parishes, and youth groups in your country and within your Lay Catholic Military Organization, as a tool for the spiritual journey of young military people.

Please share with the AMI Executive Committee your activities organised for World Youth Day in the particular Churches of your countries: send us photos, news, and testimonies!

Fraternally in Christ,
