27 September - 2 October 2005
Vilnius, Lithuania

The 2005 General Assembly of the Apostolat Militaire International (AMI) was held in Vilnius, Lithuania, from September 27th to October 2nd. The conference marked the organization's 40th anniversary, with the theme: "40 Years Apostolat Militaire International (AMI) - Our Mission goes on". Delegations from thirteen countries attended, including Austria, Germany, Kenya, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The event featured lectures and discussions reflecting on AMI's history and future, with presentations from the President, the Secretary General, and the Ecclesiastical Assistant. A key lecture was delivered by Bishop Dr. Josef Clemens, Secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, who discussed the Holy See's assessment of AMI's work and its future expectations.

A central focus of the conference was the transition of leadership within the organization. Elections were held for a new Presidency, previously held by Spain, and a new Secretariat General, previously held by Germany. Germany and Kenya presented candidatures for the Presidency, while Austria was the candidate for the Secretariat General. The outgoing President, General Miguel Alonso Baquer, thanked his colleagues for their service and reflected on the themes of past conferences, such as terrorism, peace-building, and the Christian family
