1 - 7 September 2007
Mariastein, Switzerland

The Apostolat Militaire International held its annual General Assembly and Conference in Mariastein, Switzerland. This marked the first time the event was hosted in Switzerland, and the organization extended special thanks to its Swiss hosts for their "exemplary hospitality" and "excellent organization". Key individuals credited for the conference's success include Mr. Peter Hänggi, the project's initiator; Mr. Urs Aebi, who was in charge of preparations; Senior Chief Chaplain Daniel Bachmann for liturgical arrangements; and Swiss Brigadier Dominique Andrey for establishing the necessary preconditions for the event. Participants were reportedly "deeply impressed and excited" by the warm welcome and the overall management of the conference.

The central theme of the 2007 conference was "Strengthening Christian Values within Armed Forces Worldwide". Presentations were delivered by Professor Dr. Markus RIES from Switzerland and Brigadier Mag. Karl EDLINGER from Austria on topics such as ecumenical experiences in Switzerland and whether international humanitarian law can substitute for Christian values. Following these presentations, delegates participated in working groups to discuss these subjects. Additionally, a "Permanent Working Group," chaired by LtCol (R) Gerard Dykers, was tasked with examining "The Christian soldier confronting the challenges of intercultural conflict," with its work set to continue throughout the year. Another project team was established to create a new AMI folder, flyer, and a comprehensive internet presence.

During the General Assembly, several key decisions and administrative actions were taken. The delegates unanimously approved all proposed changes to the AMI Statutes and financial order. A referendum on AMI seeking status as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) was also passed. Other agenda items included country-specific presentations on the Lay Apostolate and Military Chaplaincy, updates on the new AMI homepage, and a call for nominations for the AMI Presidency and Secretary General positions ahead of the 2008 elections.
