The 54th Apostolat Militaire International Congress took place in Reichenau, Austria, from 8 to 12 September 2019 on the theme of selfless service within the military. The event gathered three military bishops, 41 delegates, and nine family members from 14 countries across four continents.

Talks emphasized the biblical foundation of selfless service, drawing from the Old and New Testaments and the example of early Christians. The AMI vision paper and action plan were also highlighted as promoting selfless service for the benefit of individuals, families, communities, militaries, nations, and the wider world.

The Austrian hosts illustrated this principle through their strong ties with local communities and churches, integration with the national economy, and their careful maintenance of strategic neutrality since independence in 1955. Presentations also underscored the role of selfless service in personal development, family life, and honesty about the challenges of military service.
