21 - 26 August 2022
London, The United Kingdom
The Apostolat Militaire International held its annual conference and 57th General Assembly in London with 48 representatives from 12 nations across four continents. Attendees included three military bishops from the United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands, as well as a representative from Military Ministries International. After two years of COVID-related restrictions, participants welcomed the opportunity to gather in person. During the Assembly, the Military Ordinariate of Slovakia was unanimously accepted as a full member.
The conference centered on the theme of moral injury. Keynote speakers distinguished moral injury from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and discussed methods for prevention, detection, and treatment. Additional lectures addressed leadership and moral responsibility in the military, the relationship between church and state, and the Roman Catholic Church’s historical and constitutional role alongside the Anglican Church in the United Kingdom.
